The pages below, OBSERVATIONS, and PREDICTIONS, are quite different. Observations are mad from measurements taken from samples of ice in which layers have been laid down over thousands of years. There are other observations such as images taken via satellite, and measurements of changes in sea level and temperature.

Predictions are more complex and some have been controversial. One such, called the hockey stick approach predicts short term changes using an analytical technique using eigenvectors. Arguments about the validity of a particular forecasting technique are sometimes presented and are helpful if alternate techniques are presented.
